Cavalier Carpets, a beloved second-generation family-owned business, has been a cornerstone of the British carpet manufacturing industry since the 1970s. From selling carpets at a market stall in Blackburn, Lancashire, to becoming one of Britain’s leading carpet manufacturers, Cavalier Carpets has remained committed to their traditional family values. They approached us to refresh their brand, aiming to honour their rich heritage while positioning themselves as a modern leader in the industry.
Cavalier Carpets needed a cohesive brand narrative and visual identity that reflected their history and family-oriented values while appealing to contemporary audiences. The goal was to showcase their commitment to quality and family values, attracting both long-term customers and new audiences.
We crafted a brand narrative centred around the strapline “The Family Carpet Maker,” encapsulating the essence of Cavalier Carpets’ history and familial approach. Recognising the strong emotional connection to the original Cavalier head logo, we decided to reintroduce and modernise it. The logo mark was meticulously redrawn to face forward, symbolising the company’s forward-thinking approach while maintaining a connection to its rich past. The revitalised Cavalier head logo became the centrepiece of the new visual identity, serving as a hallmark of the brand’s commitment to excellence and tradition. This updated logo was integrated into a cohesive visual identity system that enhanced the overall brand experience and provided the internal design framework from which to work.
We introduced a colour palette inspired by the rich hues of a cavalier soldier’s uniform, balancing tradition with vibrancy. The new typographic style combined classic elegance with modern readability, reinforcing the brand’s heritage while ensuring clarity and approachability. A more human-centred photographic approach highlighted the family-oriented nature of the brand. The graphic language seamlessly integrated with the new logo, drawing on historical motifs presented in a fresh, contemporary manner.
The rebranding effort has revitalised Cavalier Carpets, infusing the brand with a renewed sense of purpose and identity. The new visual identity has been successfully applied across various touchpoints, ensuring a consistent and compelling brand experience. The return of the Cavalier head logo has been particularly well-received, symbolising a bridge between the brand’s storied past and its dynamic future.
