Cavalier had grown from selling carpets on a market stall in Blackburn into one of Britain’s leading carpet manufacturers. Decades later, it remained a family-owned business, but its brand needed to reconnect that heritage with the company it had become.
The important thing was that family wasn’t simply part of Cavalier’s history. It was still how the business saw itself and the relationships it had built with employees, partners and customers.
That became The Family Carpet Maker, giving Cavalier a simple idea that could connect its past with its future.
Rather than discarding everything familiar, we returned to one of the brand’s most recognisable assets: the original Cavalier head. Redrawn and brought forward as the centre of a new identity, it allowed us to celebrate the company’s heritage while giving the wider brand a more contemporary character.
The result gave Cavalier a clearer sense of purpose, a more distinctive position in the market and a comprehensive system its internal team could use consistently across the business.
